The Vegan VegOut Event Organisers

Kat and Mike are the passionate event managers behind The Vegan Vegout, a community-driven event series that champions compassion for all living beings. Taking place across Melbourne, The Vegan Vegout showcases the best small vegan businesses specialising in sweet and savoury food, while supporting animal charities and not-for-profits and fostering a space for connection and advocacy. With a focus on uniting people through food and kindness, The Vegan Vegout has become a thriving hub for those seeking delicious cuisine while supporting animal causes.

Each Vegan Vegout event offers attendees the chance to sample mouth-watering vegan dishes while learning about the vital work of various local micro to small animal rescues, sanctuaries, and rehabilitators. Kat and Mike are committed to ensuring that the events are not only fun and delicious but also serve as a platform to inspire positive action and connect the community to these compassionate, animal-forward organisations.

In addition to running The Vegan Vegout, Kat and Mike own Woking Amazing, a 100% vegan food truck. Known for their British-Asian fusion dishes, they bring bold flavours and home comforts to every plate. Their culinary expertise adds an extra layer of excitement to The Vegan Vegout events, where their food truck is always a crowd favourite.

With over 50 years of combined experience in hospitality, Kat and Mike are dedicated to making a difference for animals by creating welcoming, community-focused events that celebrate compassionate living. Through The Vegan Vegout, they aim to show that veganism is not just about the food—it’s about fostering a kinder, more loving world for all.

About their Recipe

We’ve chosen to share our Tofu Satay recipe, a dish that has been a beloved staple on our menu since our first day of trade at World Vegan Day on 1st November 2015. It’s a comfort food that our customers can’t get enough of, and for good reason—it’s rich, flavourful, and satisfying. While satay is traditionally not vegan, we wanted to create a version that is even more delicious and full of flavour. Our Tofu Satay is not only a crowd-pleaser but also a versatile option that pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes. It’s a favourite among vegans and omnivores alike, making it the perfect recipe to share with all.
