To the left we have Dominique, and to the right we have Carlos. Together we are two modern vegans. We’ve been married for four years now. We both turned vegan together after watching “What the Health” and reading Dr. Michael Greger’s book “How Not To Die”. We have a three-year-old son named Ethan, who we’ve also raised to be vegan.

We have always loved cooking with each other; so it was fun and exciting learning how to remake all of our favorite dishes before becoming vegan. Our specialty is recreating comfort foods and Caribbean classics. We’ve been on YouTube sharing our recipe videos for a little over a year now and recently created our website www.twomodernvegans.com where we also share recipes and our vegan beginner friendly grocery shopping list.

Below are some of our favorite recipes. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

The Best Vegan Strawberry Cheesecake

★★★★★

This is hands down one of our favorite desserts! After you guys try this recipe we're sure it'll be one of your favorites as well. When we lived in New York, there was a famous cheesecake shop that we would always go to. Unfortunately, they weren't vegan but we found a way to veganize one of our favorites! This cheesecake is super easy to make and completely foolproof! We just hope you all enjoy it as much as we do.

Vegan Baked Mac & Cheese

We've been experimenting for some time to perfect our baked mac & cheese and you guys this is a hit! This is the BEST vegan baked mac & cheese. PERIOD! We promise you won't be disappointed. A lot of people don't like Daiya cheeses, BUT this new formula in the Cutting Board Edition is GREAT. However, there are so many other vegan cheeeses that are great also, such as Vio- Life or Good Planet Foods. They both work great with this recipe also, so the choice ultimately up to you!

Spicy Fried Cauliflower Wings

When you want something fried, this will definitely fill that void. These cauliflower wings are fried until golden, brown, and have the perfect amount of spice. We had ours with a side of mashed potatoes and corn on the cobb, but of course, you can pair it with whatever you like!

Caribbean Pumpkin Chick’n Soup

Its finally starting to feel like fall, and we decided to share with you a soup that we love to have. This soup is a staple in Jamaican homes. We, of course, put our own twist on it and OH. MY. GOODNESS, it's so good! This soup is filled with veggies, dumplings, and tofu (which is optional, but it's a great addition to this dish.) Also, this dish traditionally includes yellow yam, and cho cho (chayote) but we don't like either so we didn't include it. WARNING this is not your typical "chick'n noodle soup" this soup is RICH, HEARTY, THICK & ADDICTING!

The Ultimate Vegan Lasagna

We make this lasagna for literally, every holiday or party. Our non-vegan friends and family can't tell that this is vegan. We don't want to keep rambling, SO we hope you all like this recipe as much as we do!

The Ultimate Vegan Pulled Jerk-BBQ

We originally made this dish with just jackfruit BUT it was missing something. It needed that extra bite; so we added in some king oyster mushrooms. The combination of the two is BANGIN and not to mention the combination of the jerk seasonings and BBQ sauce... OMG! If you like your food spicy like we do, go crazy with the cayenne pepper IF NOT hold back on the cayenne pepper. Either way, we hope you guys enjoy it as much as we do and be sure to share with your family and friends.

Vegan Buttermilk Pancakes with Blueberries & Brown Sugar Butter

Who says you can't have dessert for breakfast?! When we aren't eating oatmeal for breakfast we're most likely eating these pancakes. Not to mention they are kid approved- our son LOVES these pancakes. In all, we hope you enjoy these buttermilk pancakes as much as we do!
