There are plenty of products you can use instead! Tofu, seitan and tempeh are all high in protein and can make delicious hearty meat substitutes. There are also many readily available plant-based meat alternatives — these can be great in moderation but you don’t want to make them the staples of your diet! Many supermarkets carry plant-based burgers, sausages, veggie mince, schnitzels and roasts. If you have an Asian grocery close to you they are worth investigating as they often offer a range of ‘mock meats’ (usually frozen).
