Maple Hoisin Tofu

Serves 4 | Prep time: 5 mins | Cooking time: 15 mins

INGREDIENTS

  • 450g/15.2oz firm tofu
  • ¼ cup cornflour
  • 2 Tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 3 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp pure sesame oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Serve over rice

METHOD

  1. Cut tofu into small cubes and coat well with cornflour.
  2. In a fry pan, heat oil on medium heat. Add tofu and cook until golden.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together hoisin sauce, maple syrup, soy sauce, minced garlic, and sesame oil.
  4. Lower the heat of the fry pan and pour in the sauce mixture, cooking until tofu is well coated and the sauce begins to thicken.
  5. Serve over rice, and garnish with sesame seeds.

Jack says: For perfectly coated tofu, simply add cornflour and tofu to a container with a lid, seal it, and shake until evenly coated. Effortless and consistent!”
