Anyone who thinks they could never go vegan should think again!
That’s the message of a new PETA video that the group believes will bolster people’s New Year’s resolutions by showing the domino effect of people ditching meat, eggs, and dairy after being suddenly inspired by a host of experiences that range from eating a coworker’s stolen (and delicious) vegan lunch to hearing gossip that someone’s now-vegan hubby has gotten a lot better at the “horizontal tango.”
“Once people discover that vegan food tastes like heaven, saves animals, is environmentally responsible, and positively impacts their entire body, even the most die-hard flesh fanatics may think twice,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA encourages everyone to try vegan eating and ignite their own chain reaction this new year.”
There are more than 13 million vegans in the U.S., and almost every one of them said they’d never go vegan—before going vegan. In addition to saving nearly 200 animals every year from daily suffering and a terrifying death, each person who ditches meat, eggs, and dairy shrinks their carbon footprint and their risk of developing cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and other diseases. Going vegan also helps combat the spread of deadly viruses: SARS, swine flu, bird flu, and COVID-19 all stemmed from confining and killing animals for food.
